ABOUT JAMIYA

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Jamiya (pronounced JA-MY-YA) and I will be your headshot photographer for the evenin…uh…day! Bios are tough to write, but here's a little about me!

I’m originally from Jackson, MS and have been a professional photographer for 14 years. I studied Film at Full Sail University where I received my Bachelor’s and recently completed my Masters in Photography at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I moved to NYC 10 years ago and it's been a blast!

I’m a perfectionist, love to laugh, and I’m always excited to work with fun and interesting people. When I’m not shooting headshots, I’m doing commercial and editorial work for a variety of clients. You can see my portfolio here.

My philosophy is that a photo shoot should be a fun and relaxed experience. I like to allow headshot sessions to unfold organically and try to avoid any cookie-cutter approaches. If you need to take a break – to hydrate, grab a snack, chat a bit, check your phone – please do. I never want you to feel rushed or overwhelmed. It’ll be like getting your headshots done by a good friend! I’m cool like that.
